TRB500 vs iPhone 5G speeds

Just got the TRB500 and have a Telenor 5G station visual from my window.

  • my iphone gets 600-700mbit at same position, same sim/carrier
  • the TRB500 stops at arount 250mbit down… is this a hardware limitation of the Teltonika?

ping times are also around 30-35ms which is quite high

OS = TRB500_R_00.07.06.5_WEBUI.bin

ps. read this thread which talks about similar things. not sure if there are any updates on firmware for the TRB500 to achieve higher speeds than 400mbit over 5G…

bump! any replies from team teltonika?

Hello,

TRB500 shouldn’t have many issues achieving close to it’s rated maximum speed of ~1Gbps. Could you describe your setup?

  • Could you provide a screenshot of your signal values by navigating to Status → Network → Mobile? Make sure to remove the IMSI, ICCID and Cell ID values from the screenshot.

  • How is the TRB500 configured?

    • How many/what devices are connected to it?
  • How is the speed being measured? Are you using an in-built speed test or running the speed test on a LAN device? It should be noted, that the CPU of TRB500 is not powerful enough to generate 1Gbps, as well as route all of the traffic when running a speed test, thus a LAN device should be used for measurements.

Best regards,

hi!

please see screenshot of 5G below. I have all 4 antennas connected and positioned by the window. same position as my iPhone 15 that provides way greater speeds

the TRB500 is factory reset, once 1Gbit connection straight to my laptop, no other devices connected.

I measure speed using bredbandskollen.se

Hello,

Apologies for a delayed response.
Could you try the following:

  • Factory reset the TRB500;

  • Configure the LAN IP (if needed), as well as other setup wizard parameters;

  • Reboot the TRB500;

  • Connect your laptop directly to the TRB500;

  • Run a speed test.

Currently it seems like you are facing the issue as some other community forum members, where the offloading mechanism does not initiate properly. Rest assured, we are working with third-parties to get this issue resolved, as fixes are required from the modem manufacturer side.
It should be noted, that the issue may only appear if there are a lot of devices connected or the device is not in NAT mode.
Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Hello @ruter-boy ,

We believe we may have a solution to this issue. If I shared a test firmware with you, would you be able to test it and see how it performs and if the speed drop issues are gone?
If yes, I will send you a form to fill out to get in touch with us privately.

Best regards,

oh sorry i sent it back i’m afraid :frowning:

any replies from team teltonika?

no, seems we need to find a 5G router that runs qualcomm modems instead

I have a similar speed issue with my brand new rutx50. I’m willing to test a beta firmware if there exist one for the rutx50, if this could help troubleshooting.

Hello,

This issue only affects TRB500.
Please create a separate thread with detailed description of your issue with RUTX50.

Best regards,

@Daumantas I did create a new thread but found this one afterwards that seemed to be a similar issue to mine.

Here is my post: Rutx50 not going full speed?
