A week ago, I’ve updated my RUT950 to the latest firmware to date: RUT9_R_00.07.06.1
Since then, I’ve noticed that it stops sharing the mobile connection on the LAN, after a few days running without any problem. I’m using a different device as Wifi hotspot, so I can’t tell wether it stops sharing mobile connection on its own Wifi too or not.
The RUT950 has to be powered off and on in order to get it sharing its mobile connection again.
I can provide the troubleshoot file if needed.
Currently, it’s challenging to pinpoint the root cause of the issue. Could you clarify what you mean by “stops sharing mobile connection to LAN”? Does the router completely lose the mobile connection, or do only the traffic through LAN ports stops? Also, does the router’s Wi-Fi lose connection too? Did these issues start after a software update, or were they present in previous versions?
The mobile connection status is “Connected” when this issue happens.
The RUT950 itself is hidden in a very small place, so I had to remove its Wifi antennas. Mobile antennas are replaced by coaxial cable connected to Yagi antennas placed in the attic, pointing to the closest BTS. The Wifi connection is provided by an external device, connected to one of the RUT950 LAN ports.
The issue happened twice since I’ve updated the RUT950 to FW version RUT9_R_00.07.06.1. I had no problem with previous versions.
I understand that such issue is hard to debug without having more information. I had to reset the RUT950 in hurry when the connection issues happened, because I had no time to carry out all checks. I’ll try to investigate a little bit more next time.
It seems that there might be an issue with the RUT9_R_00.07.06.1 firmware version. Fortunately, a new firmware version, RUTX_R_00.07.06.3, was released today to address various issues found in version RUT9_R_00.07.06.1. I recommend upgrading to the latest version, as it is likely to resolve any problems related to connection loss.
The connection issue happened again this morning, four days after the previous one.
I was able to retrieve the RUT950 status via SMS and saw it still was connected to LTE. The SMS reboot function did allow to perform a remote restart and get the LAN connection working again.
I’m currently upgrading the firmware, so I’ll have enough time to confirm this connection issue is solved before the topic closes.
