ERROR Firmware RUTX_R_00.07.06.6 - Modem disconnecing, bad performance

Please log a ticket!

I have to report the bad performance of the units connectivity
after updating to the later firmware RUTX_R_00.07.06.6.

Device: RUTX09, Hardware revision 0505 batch0019

The more users reporting this issue it will make you aware and realise the importance of fixing it. Have never experienced this in an earlier version.

I made a firmware update hoping to be taking advantage of the newer improved UI. However the disappointment from the bad performance in connectivity + broken Modbus data reporting, made me reverting back to the previous used firmware.

The major issue was the change of behaviour in connectivity making the unit unreliable. The unit disconnected randomly several times during a 24 hour period. Also it didn’t reconnect after loosing the connection. Normally there could be a few disconnected events during a week. However the modem reconnects again and we hardly notice any disruption.

No other units (4G phones and other modem) showed a similar behaviour disconnecting or indicating any errors during the same period. No logs from the LTE network showing any recorded errors or disruptions.
We have good experience with good connectivity and we are near basestations used.

INFORMATION ABOUT OUR SETUP

  • Nearest Base station, 3km Line of sight.
  • Two Poynting LPDA-92 Wideband Log-Periodic Dipole Array Antennas.
  • Telia Sweden (MCC 240) with new 4G LTE, (+NB-IoT)
  • 1800 MHz (Band 3), 800 MHz (Band 20), 700 MHz (Band 28A)
  • 95% measured Excellent Signal strength with mostly good and excellent RSRP, RSRQ and SINR values.

New Firmware Version
RUTX_R_00.07.06.6

Steps to reproduced the bug

The evidence is clear when testing the 07.06.6 version and then revering back to 07.04.5

What is the wrong behaviour?

Having a visual and hands on experience. Noticing a brake/disconnected internet service. Have to log into the RUTX09 UI to reset/restart the modem and waiting until it reconnects. Had repeat this several times during the day. Because of the disruption I decided to revert back to the working firmware as this was unacceptable.

Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing modem disconnecting issues. Please try updating to the latest RUTX_R_00.07.06.8 firmware available here. Some mobile issues have been fixed in this update. Hopefully, this will resolve the problem for you.

Best Regards,

Hi and thank you for getting back to me.
Good news if the latest firmware have a fix for the connection issue. Unfortunately there are too many other issues with the later firmware versions (reported to you), cannot update until it’s confirmed that they’ve been fixed. Or it wont work with our integrations.
Tanks for confirming regarding the connectivity.

After updating more than 15 RUT240 to firmware RUT2X_R_00.07.06.6, the where no IPSEC-Connections to my sophos firewall.

No i tryed to update to RUT2_R_00.07.06.8 firmware but it doesn`t work either

Hi, I am also a user that has issues with another model of Teltonika. Did they get back to you? While browsing the forum I found this thread. Have a look.
