Wireless on LAN and WAN?

On an RTUX11 can the wireless interface be used on the LAN and on the WAN at the same time?
I have configured OCY60 on the LAN and EB on the WAN.

If I enable EB it does not start. If I reboot the RUTX11 it will start and connect to network EB but then the access point OCY60 stops working (devicesI will not see this OCY60 SSID).

Should this setup be possible?.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Yes, this setup is possible and can be easily achieved. To configure your RUTX11 to use the wireless interface for both LAN and WAN, please follow these steps:

  1. First, scan for available wireless networks and connect to the EB access point as a client.

  2. Make sure to select ‘wifi1’ as the network interface, as shown in the screenshot below:

  3. After connecting, you will be redirected to the WAN page of the newly created wifi1 interface. Press Save & Apply to confirm the changes.

You should now have a WWAN (wireless WAN) connection while maintaining your AP on the LAN.

Please let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,

Hello,
thanks for the quick reply. This is exactly what I did. But now I tried your procedure again.
I connected to EB and created the wifi1 WAN interface,

But as soon as EB gets connected a client can no longer connect to OCY60 access point. On the iphone the OCY60 SSID sometimes shows up in the available network list but when I try to connect the connection fails. On the PC the OCY60 SSID does not show up anymore in the available network list.

When I disable EB then OCY60 can connect from the iphone and the PC.#

This is where I got stuck and ask for help.

Hello,

Thank you for your response and the detailed explanation of the issue.

I’ve tested the setup you described and was able to replicate the problem. I resolved this by changing the wifi1 WAN interface protocol to “Static” and assigning an IP address from a different subnet than the LAN.

To do this:

  1. Go to NetworkWAN.
  2. Press Edit on the wifi1 interface.
  3. Change the Protocol to Static.
  4. Specify an IP address from a different subnet than the LAN (e.g. 192.168.2.222).

Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance or have any additional questions.

Best regards,

Hello,
thank you for your input.
What do I specify for the gateway address? I tried empty and 192.168.2.222 but on both settings my OCY60 client will not connect.
