VPN with OpenVPN via Maroc Telecom

We spend three month in Marokko and trying to setup a VPN connection with our RUTX50 to a german VPN Server from Proton. We tried a lot configurations and sometimes it works for one or two days, but then the Maroc Telecom cut the connection. We also tried Wireguard but with the same result. Is somebody there how has experience with that issue?

Greetings, @jukiwuki,

Thank you for reaching out!

Proton VPN is based on WireGuard. Could you please clarify the following:

  • How exactly does Maroc Telecom cut the connection?
  • Is it possible to test the configuration using a SIM card from a different provider?
  • What firmware version is currently installed on the device?

Additionally, you can check out this forum thread regarding the setup of ProtonVPN, user named heartless has provided a guide.

This information will be useful for further investigation.

Best wishes,
V.

Hello,

thank you for the quick responce. I had a look at the other thread you mentioned and made a step by step configuration, but unfortunately with the same result. It works for 2 - 3 minutes, I get a handshake (see text below) and then after 2-3 minutes maroc telecom cuts the internet connection. After that I must disable the VPN to get a internet connection again (without VPN). I think they are able to see the VPN tunnel and cut the line.

Let me remark that I also tested the wireguard VPN on my notebook with the Proton App for Windows and that works ongoing through my router.
