When i have my TRG500 in NAT-mode i have download speeds up to 800mbit/s and upload speeds up to 100mbit/s and that is all fine!
But I want to run bridge mode or passthrough in my setup.
In both of these modes I only get download speeds between 150-200mbit/s
I have read some forum posts that says try to enable/disable SYN flood protection, unfortunaly it makes no difference,
I have used tried with firmware TRB500_R_00.07.06.3 and TRB500_R_00.07.06.1, no difference.
I have tried to factory reset the TRB500, makes no diffrence
I have tried to connect a computer directly to the TRB500 (instead of via a rauter), makes no difference either.
Does any one else have any thought on what to try to be able to use all of my download speed?
What you’re saying is true; in NAT mode it’s much faster than in bridge mode.
I had the TRB500 configured in bridge mode because behind it, I had my router with OpenBSD, which uses FTP for the system and for some daily periodic tasks. In NAT mode, there’s no way for FTP to work behind the TRB500 (it seems to work on OpenWRT, but I couldn’t verify it).
So, if I wanted speed, I had to use NAT, sacrificing OpenBSD. What I did a few days ago was set up a Poor Man’s Bridge Mode and install Alpine Linux in diskless mode (RAM disk) on the router behind the TRB500 ( @postas will be happy if he reads this).
I haven’t finished configuring everything I had on OpenBSD yet, but I’ll do it soon.
Our RnD team is investigating this behavior, but is seems to be coming from the limitations of the modem manufacturer provided software. We will update you once we have any news.
Thank you for your patience!
