We’ve been using the TRB140 for quite a while now, and have a custom firmware based on the 07.02.6 firmware.
The latest batch of devices, all are unable to downgrade past 07.05 (they come with 07.06.10) when uploading the firmware via the RMS GUI.
They fail in the validation stage of the firmware process.
Has something changed lately for this?
I found this thread, Downgrade of TRB140 fails, device bricked, but its not the same behaviour, our devices doesnt brick, they just dont accept the firmware.
I tried identifying the model;
root@TRB140:~# mnf_info -n
TRB14000XXXX
root@TRB140:~# mnf_info -H
0009
I am not aware how to verify which hardware of TRB140 you are running.
In my case it was that the newer hardware type of the TRB140 cannot run on the old(er) software versions.
My guess is that your RMS is making sure your newer TRB140 hardware will not be bricked by older software as what happened in my case:)
Teltonika support is quite good and expect them to reach out to you either confirming info above or coming with a solution.
(shoutout to Teltonika support )
I expect the older hardware versions still are compatible for newer firmware though?
Side question, hope its okay:
We’re trying to update our custom firmware to version 7.6.10, but while reviewing the source code downloadable from https://firmware.teltonika-networks.com/7.6.10/RUT30X/RUT30X_R_GPL_00.07.06.10.tar.gz, we can’t find the iwinfo package in it, which we need for some of our feature to work. Was it removed or moved?
What’s the best way to add it back? Should we just add the iwinfo directory back from a similar version of OpenWrt? Or can we load it from an external feed?
