Hello, I am using a RUTX50 and installed Tailscale via the Package Manager. I recently read on the official website that Tailscale has released version v1.94.1, which includes a bug fix that likely addresses an issue I’m experiencing with my network connection. When will Teltonika integrate the next Tailscale update into the Package Manager?
This is expected within the next few firmware releases, however, we’re unable to tell you exactly which one, as R&D development and testing goes on, things may push further or may come sooner, depending on how everything goes.
Any update to this? Tailscale’s stable version is 1.96.2
The 1.86.2 version bundled with RutOS (even the latest 7.21.2) is ancient. It was released 2025-07-29. Manually running tailscale update results in a bricked install…
This has been flagged a number of times over the past years, e.g.
I have been informed by the R&D that Tailscale will be updated to 1.92.3 with the firmware release 7.22. Furthermore, Tailscale will be receiving regular updates starting firmware version 7.24.
I believe that is due to the fact that 7.22 will be a major version, so changes such as version updates, bug fixes and so can all be released at once, minor versions are merely hotfixes usually.
Since 7.21.3 has been released today, I believe 7.22 should be released quite soon, though I do not have an ETA from the R&D.
I spoke with the R&D about this, and the reason seems to be that the firmware version was being worked on for a while now, and the available tailscale version at the time was 1.92.3 (this is also the version that came out with the vulnerability fixes), but, as mentioned, with further firmware updates to come out, the version will be bumped up.
I installed 7.22 and, indeed, Tailscale is at 1.92.3 now. Hopefully in the future provisions will be made so that the RUTx devices can stay more current with upstream Tailscale releases.
