Hi,
I can’t say for sure if this issue was present before upgrading to .07.08 or not, as the router is not in use on daily basis and I used a wired connection while doing the upgrade, but here is the case:
I noticed eventually that the 5GHz SSID was not visible to clients (tested on several laptops/mobile phones) even though both the 5GHz radio and the SSID/interface was on / enabled. It is not possible to connect to the network manually or by using the QR-code, so it’s not like a hidden SSID, there seems to be no valid 5GHz radio signal. 2.4GHz Wi-Fi works as it should. FYI, both the 2.4 and 5 WiFi band LEDs are green on the front panel.
I tried downgrading to previous firmware - no luck. Re-upgraded, deleted the WiFi Access Points / SSIDs and created them from scratch (this was the solution in another thread RUTX50 - Wifi 5Ghz "disappeared"), and have also tried various radio channels (including auto), different strenghts/widths. No luck.
I did a factory reset with the latest FW, still no 5GHz Wi-Fi visible to clients.
Then, I disconnected both wifi-antennas, and suddenly the 5GHz SSID was there!
I can connect from clients, and it’s working - but of course with very limited range.
If I try to connect an antenna to either one of the WiFi antenna connectors, a few seconds later the client is disconnected and the SSID disappears. If I disconnect the antenna, the SSID becomes visible again.
As we have another RUTX50 and a RUTX11, I have tested with other antennas as well, to exclude the antenna(s) being the cause. Same issue.
Hardware failure in the RUTX50?
