RUTX11 "Certificates have expired Immediate action required to avoid service disruptions."

My 6-month-old RUTX11 is saying:
“Certificates have expired - Immediate action required to avoid service disruptions.”

The certificate in question appears to have expired over 3 years ago. A previous topic on this ends up sending me to a blank page: RUTX11 has expired certificate => Removing of HTTPS security warning - Teltonika Networks Wiki

What are the consequences of this message? How do I fix it?

Is the fix likely to brick the modem? It’s very inaccessible.

Greetings, @rbreese ,

Thank you for reaching out

Expired certificates will not brick your device. You can generate new certificates by following this guide.

  1. Log into the router
  • Connect your computer to the router (Wi-Fi or cable).
  • Open a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.).
  • In the address bar, type the router address:
https://192.168.1.1

or

https://192.168.14.1
  • If a security warning appears, choose Advanced → Proceed .
  • Log in using your router username and password.
  1. Open the certificate settings
  • In the menu, go to:
System → Administration → Certificates
  1. Generate a new certificate
  • Find the Certificate Generation section.
  • Set:
    • File type: Simple
    • IP address: the router address
      (for example: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.14.1 )
  • Click Generate .
  • Wait a few seconds until the certificate is created.
  1. Apply the new certificate
  • Go to:
System → Administration → Access Control
  • Find the HTTPS service.
  • Click Edit .
  • Set:
    • Certificate files from device: Enable
    • Server certificate: server.cert.pem
    • Server key: server.key.pem
  • Click Save .
  1. Reconnect to the router
  • Refresh the browser or reopen the router page.
  • Log in again if asked.

The certificate warning should now be resolved.

If the warning still appears

This is normal for self-generated certificates. You can:

  • Click Advanced → Proceed in the browser, or
  • Import the router’s certificate into your computer’s trusted certificates (optional).

I hope this helps,

Warm regards,
V.

@Vilius Issues with certificates seem to still appear quite often, so I thought I propose something for your to consider.

  1. How about adding this chat a new TAG “certificates” and we could add marking these questions and solutions with that?

  2. Also, as you now wrote an excellent answer how to solve this issue, would it be nice if that what you wrote was also an Wiki article also where it was easy each time add that TAG first and then just pass link to that Wiki article to find resolution.

My humble educated guess is that by the time it would lead improving self discoverability documented solutions at least some percentage and then perhaps lead fixing issues without need to opening new questions about each time someone encounters it.

These are just ideas using features you already got in chat and wiki that came to my mind seeing these come up still quite often.

Cheers,
