RUT955 setup relay package

Hello all, I’d like to give you an idea first about my setup of my RUT955 in my caravan.
I’ve setup the RUT955 with a SIM - and called the WiFi - “Celebration”
All mobiles and all my devices connect to the WiFi called “Celebration” and all is working fine and all devices get internet via the SIM.

However, at the site where I am - they now in the last month have FREE WIFI - but the signal is weak and when I am in my caravan - some devices can connect and some cannot connect as the signal is not very good.
However, the RUT955 is connected to a great WiFi Antenna - and I get 72% signal connection with the RUT955.

Now here is where the problem starts and the reason for this Topic.
I’ve installed the Relay Package onto the RUT955.
On the RUT955 I scanned the 2.4Ghz channel and found the FREE WIFI and connected to this with the passphrase - it does NOT have a HOTSPOT login page - only a passphrase.
So good so far - after I connected to the FREE WIFI with the RUT955 - and it connected - I then went to the RELAYD - and selected LAN to “wifi1” - which was created when I connected the FREE WIFI.

Now I can connect to the internet with everything that is connected to the LAN sockets on the RUT955.

However, what I want to achieve, (this is where I’m not clever enough and would like some help or information to see if it is possible) - is for all my devices to still connect to the “Celebration” WiFI - that I did setup in the beginning - and then also connect to the FREE WIFI and have the RELAYD as well from LAN to “wifi1” - also have it RELAYD from “Celebration” to “wifi1”
For your information - I have to delete “Celebration” wifi - in order to connect to FREE WIFI - to make it work.
If I have “Celebration” and FREE WIFI both installed - then the RELAYD no longer works.

So this is the question - I hope I’ve explained this properly and it is not confusing the reader.

It would be nice if I can get this to work - but I have a feeling that I have to get another WiFi router - set that up as “Celebration” and connect this to the LAN of the RUT955 - and then have the RUT955 as a BRIDGE between the WiFi router and FREE WIFI.

thanks for you help - I hope it is possible without an extra router???

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information.

To begin with, could you confirm whether the DHCP server is disabled on the RUT955’s LAN interface?

Based on your description, what you’re aiming to achieve — bridging your LAN (including your “Celebration” WiFi) to the external FREE WiFi — should be achievable without the need for an additional router.

I’d recommend reviewing the Relayd configuration example on our wiki available here:

If something’s still unclear or you need further assistance, feel free to reach out and share additional details.

Best regards,
