RUT241 having issues with IPSec on firmware v7.12

Hi there,

I am evaluating RUT241 as VPN routers for my company. We run IPSec, pointing the routers to our Fortigate setup. Recently I have noticed issues when upgrading to firmware 7.12 that earlier version didn’t have.

Usually I have a pre-made backup file with all the VPN settings for a router unit, and all I need to change was the device’s IP address and pre-shared key to match the tunnel specifically assigned to each device. The backup file has worked for all previous firmware version from 7.6 to 7.11.

However, when flashing the back-up file to 2 units running firmware 7.12 and 7.12.3, I found that the routers’ web UI could not load when I connect via their respective IPSec tunnels. Pinging the IP addresses of these devices through the IPSec connection resulted in dropped data quite often. When I downgraded the firmware version to 7.11.3 on both devices and set the same IPSec parameters each device used to have, then both units worked perfectly.

After a quick look at firmware 7.12, there are a few changes to IPSec on this version. My question is do I need to change anything on my config for the new firmware?

for reference, I have attached my current IPSec config

Hello,

Apologies for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Our developers are aware of the IPsec issue and are actively working on a resolution. The fix will be implemented in future updates. Unfortunately, I don’t have an exact release date, but I will keep you informed if I receive more information.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Best regards,
