RUT 951 update to RUT9M_R_00.07.12 broke SIM detection

Hi
I faced on thursday a big issue :
I have a fleet of dozen of Teltonika routers both RUT 950 and 951. We made an global update of the firmware on all of them.

But on 3 of them, we had replace them physically on our products because they were no more able to connect.
Obviously we kept configuration after upgrade and did not change anything. THe SIMs are comming from the same batch and provider with the same config, etc …

The 3 faulty RUT 951 are of the SN serie : 11263xxxx
Their HW revision are 2020, the OK ones are HW revision 0202 or 0303.

Common information (faulty or not) :
WEBUI = RUT9M_R_00.07.12
MODEM FW = SLM750-V_4.0.12_EQ101 so ON MODEM is SLM750-VE
(nota, no issue with version embedding Quectel MODEM)
Bootloaders are most of the time 4.0.8.

Anyone experienced the same issue with HW rev 2020 (surprisingly near the 0202) ?
It really seems related to an incompatibility between HW rev 2020 and this FW version.
Also I notice that on this HW 2020, an eSIM menu appeared.
Attached some screenshoots.

What I also observe is that the SIM card, once inserted in any slot, is orange with the message not activated.

I tried to downgrade to RUT9M_R_00.07.11.3_WEBUI.bin that previousy worked without any success.
Please help !

Kind regards
Vincent

Hello
Additionnal information, after factory reset without any SIM inserted + new update to RUTM9M_R__00.07.12, I have an SOM3 (eSIM1) that appeared !)
But related to other topics in this forum, eSIMs are normally not already supported

Thanks and BR
Nota : Tried to downgrade to 11.3 then 10.2 (original one) … not better , SIM not detected. SIM working in other routers, and used to work before V12 upgrade.

Hello,

Thank you for your patience.

This issue will be resolved with the 7.12.3 firmware release, which should be available soon. Please upgrade your RUT951 firmware to this version once released and verify if the issue persists.

Issue with SIM Card Recognition on New RUT951 Device

Dear Teltonika Support Team,

I purchased the RUT951 device today, but I am facing an issue where the device is not recognizing my SIM card, even though it works fine in other devices. I’ve tried restarting the device and inserting the SIM card into both slots, but the issue persists.

I would appreciate your guidance on how to resolve this, as the device is brand new and has not been used before.

Thank you for your support

Hello,

Could you confirm which firmware version is currently installed on your RUT951? Please ensure it is updated to the latest version, 7.13.2.

Additionally, if possible, try performing a factory reset or, preferably, a firmware flash through the Bootloader menu. Instructions for accessing the Bootloader menu and upgrading the firmware through it can be found here.

Let me know if this helps or if further assistance is needed.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

I confirm that the firmware version installed on my RUT951 is 7.13.2.

Also, just to let you know, I am located in Israel.

Please let me know if you still recommend doing a factory reset or a firmware flash through the Bootloader menu.

Looking forward to your guidance.

Best regards,

Hello
My issue was solved thanks to Teltonika support  (and my 3 faulty devices are now working perfectly)
But just to help : my issue was also related to the HW revision (2020 in my case)
Also “cntss”, I think you should share some details about your device (system page), screenshot of the issue, etc …

Best regards

If possible, you can try performing a factory reset to see if it makes any change.

Additionally, to gather more details, can you confirm the following:

  1. Was this issue present before, or did it start only after the firmware update?
  2. Can you confirm if the SIM card is not positioned too close to the ground of the SIM card adapter? If that’s the case, you could try lifting the SIM slightly by placing a small piece of tape underneath it.

Furthermore, if possible, please provide a screenshot from the Status → System page, ensuring that any private/sensitive information (such as S/N, MAC addresses, etc.) is blurred or hidden.

Best regards,

Now, after the upgrade, one issue has been resolved — SIM slot 1 is working.

However, SIM slot 2 is still not functioning, even though I tried switching the SIM cards between the slots.

Now, after the upgrade, one issue has been resolved — SIM slot 1 is working.

However, SIM slot 2 is still not functioning, even though I tried switching the SIM cards between the slots.

Thank you for the update.

Please note that the RUT951, like any other single-modem router, can establish only one connection at a time, using the SIM card selected as the default.

To test if SIM slot 2 is functioning properly, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Network → Mobile → General

  2. Select the SIM2 tab

  3. Set SIM2 as the default:

  4. Click Save & Apply

After applying the changes, please check if the connection is established. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Kind regards,

No, it didn’t work.

Could you try upgrading the device firmware to the latest 7.13.2 (preferably without Keep settings selected, if feasible)? From the screenshot, it looks like you’re still running an older 7.11.3 firmware.

After the update, please check if the SIM card is still not being detected in the SIM2 slot when it is selected as the default.

Kind regards,

Does it support eSIM?
I have updated it and tried, but the issue is still the same.
