RMS not active following RUT241 firmware update

Hi all,

I have updated two RUT241’s to latest 14 firmware. I can see some devices that are connected to these devices, however RMS has not come back online.

Wondering if anyone has any idea? the devices are very remote…

I have had two devices that were updated from 7.13.4 to 7.14.1 and have not come back onto RMS. Is there a solution to fix this and for the devices to come back online on RMS?

Hello,

Please try the solution provided in the following community post: Modem works but RMS connections dropped - #5 by Marija

Let me know if this resolves the issue or if you still require further assistance.

Best regards,

Hi @Marija I haven’t had any luck. Can I send you the details of the RUT?

Kind regards,

Nick

Could you please let me know what status is displayed next to the devices that are not coming back online in RMS, under the Management → Devices page?

Best regards,

Hi @Marija,

I tried re-adding one. That says “not activated”

Another one that I have left and not changed says “offline”

I have devices connected to both that are active and online - I.e the router is operational

Hello,

The issue might be related to the firmware version currently installed. Firmware versions 7.14 and 7.14.1 were removed from production due to known issues. A new, fixed version—7.14.2—is expected to be released soon.

In the meantime, we recommend downgrading to firmware version 7.13.4 and checking whether the RMS connectivity issue persists.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Best regards,

I have the same error after upgrading to 7.14.2, the devices no longer connect to RMS.
I can see the connection attempts, but they error our with "this device is redirect to the authentication system - status code 20.

They are also at remote sites, so I cannot directly connect to the devices. I will be several days and many hours of driving to got to the remote sites, so this is not desirable or practical.

I tried the SMS option as suggested by Modem works but RMS connections dropped - #5 by Marija , this does force a connection attempt but results in the same error.

Any other suggestions to avoid a long field trip.

Hello,

Could you please let me know which firmware version you updated from before installing 7.14.2?

Best regards,

The previous version was 7.13.4

Hello,

Could you please let me know the response to the SMS command <RUT956_password rms_status>?

Best regards,

Hi @Marija, no response.

What is also strange is a switch that was connected to the Wan port (set up as lan), is offline since the firmware update. Wondering if this update has affected this port setting…

Unfortunately I am not getting any response from SMS. It appears that maybe the SMS service is barred on this particular service. I had a service provider check and reset the SMS service, but they said it may require a reboot of the device to become active… which I obviously cannot do… so it appears I am totally stuck, the new firmware is going to force us to do a long and expensive field trip.

Hello @SAContracting @DarylW ,

Could you please try the steps outlined on our wiki page here: Why is my device offline / not activated on RMS? - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Let me know if any of the steps help or if you’re still experiencing the same issue.

Best regards,

Hi Marija,

No this article did not help, most of this required direct access to the device, which we do not have. The SMS appears to have been carrier limited and now it is activated, apparently requires network reauthentication with the carrier service (ie a reboot).

I have 26 devices running through RMS, never had a problem with previous upgrades etc. But last week doing regular maintenance, started doing upgrades, seen new firmware and authorised 4 devices to upgrade (expecting no issues), before realising the first one never came back online. Now ALL 4 of the upgraded devices are isolated, identically… all of them have the same connection log errors..

I am fairly sure, all is lost bar a big field trip (requiring towing trucks, elevated work platforms, multiple operators etc… going to cost a lot).

By the look of it v 7.14.x has been a nightmare for bugs.

Any help appreciated, but I am not holding much hope…

@DarylW I agree with your issues and experiencing the same. Lesson learnt. Will hold back for stable FW in future.

Hello @DarylW,

I have sent you a form to fill out. Once it’s completed, I will contact you privately to investigate this issue further. Please use the ticket ID “13634” when submitting the form.

Hello @SAContracting,

Could you please confirm whether you have tried the steps provided in the wiki?

If those steps didn’t help, could you please let me know your device model? If your device supports a mobile connection, please try sending the following SMS command to the router: <router_password> rms_status and let me know the output.

Thank you.

Best regards,
