In here we got one RUTM11 acting as a Mesh Gateway and some RUT956 acting as nodes.
Our main problem is that we’re not sure how to get an internet connection to the RUTM11.
Seeing as it’s on the sea it’s not viable to use an ethernet cable. It’s far from civilazation so there’s not really any stable mobile connection. There’s wifi covering out at sea but only 2.4GHz, which we can’t use as the gateway is already using said wifi interfaces for the mesh network, and the 5 GHz network won’t reach the RUTM11 in it’s current placement.
And the RUTM11 needs to be placed in the middle of the sea so it can properly reach every RUT956 node.
Can we use a RUT956 with a directional antenna to somehow connect the RUTM11 to the internett, if the RUT956 were to be connected to a cabled WAN Network or 2.4 GHz wifi?

We have found a solution. In your setup, the RUTM11 functions as the gateway, while the three RUT956 devices act as mesh nodes. You can configure this mesh network by following the example provided in the link below:
Once the mesh network is established, you will need to add another WiFi interface on the gateway and configure it as a client. This will enable it to connect to an external WiFi source. Please refer to the following article for guidance on setting up the RUTM11 in client mode:
Important note: Make sure that the RUT956 located on the shore has its radio settings configured to operate on the same channel as your mesh network (for example, channel 11). You can find detailed instructions in this article:
