I have a TRB500 running firmware TRB500_R_00.07.08
When I look in the firmware section it shows firmware TRB500_R_00.07.08.1 to be available on the server.
When I click UPDATE it downloads and verifies the firmware but then nothing happens.
Looking in the log it says “Firmware is not supported by this device”
How?

I have the same issue with the new RUTC50 router .
Downloads on 7.08.1 FOTA and then nothing happens? no validation comes up,it works with the RUTX50
Did you check System->Maintenance->Events Log?
What does it say there?

Apparently the same issue. Looks like there is an error in the TRB500_R_00.07.08.1 image on the server.
But I saw another topic where someone had applied that update to a different device, and I hope it is fixed because I fixes an issue that I see as well.

We are already aware of this issue and currently working on it.
If you want to upgrade it now to the latest firmware (07.08.1), you can download the firmware for your device on our wiki page.
Once downloaded, you can manually upload it to your device by navigating to System → Firmware → Update firmware, then upload the firmware file to it.

Ok thanks, that worked! I will be installing the TRB500 at its final location next week, and I hope to have real 5G there. We will see.
(at the moment it indicates 5G (NSA) but it seems to use LTE bands only and achieves “only” 250Mbit/s where the provider recently enabled 3.5GHz band and claims it should be more like 1Gbit/s)
The modem firmware is RG501QEUAAR12A05M4G_OCPU_BETA_20211020D_04.001.00.000 is that still the most current version? It seems it can be only updated “from File” as well but I did not find an update file on the site.
If it exists, could you point me to it?

That article says: EDIT: For TRB500 users, we ask you to wait until the release of v7.5 of RutOS. The modems within these devices use different firmware, which is still in the testing phase.
So I am not going to use that file, but instead I hope to get a reply from a Teltonika employee.

Indeed there it shows how to upgrade the TRB500.
I did it and it added the N28 band which it previously did not use, good!
There is now a TRB500_R_00.07.08.2 firmware on the server but it suffers from the same issue:

In a topic of another model it says this version should resolve that issue, but for the TRB500 it doesn’t.
@r.janssen How would you know? There is no update higher than 07.08.2 so you wouldn’t know if FOTA is working until the next update. If you have installed 07.08 or 07.08.1 then it will not work until you update to 07.08.2 manually and then it will work when the next update is available (07.08.3 or higher).
I know because I encountered this issue with version TRB500_R_00.07.08.1 (see above), then I manually updated to that version (downloaded the file) and that worked, now I see that update TRB500_R_00.07.08.2 is available and when I try to update from server it again fails the same way.
@r.janssen so what version is currently installed on your TRB500? It’s fixed if you have installed 07.08.2 version. As you can see previous versions that have this bug have been removed from downloads.
So you are claiming that the problem is not in the version on the server but in the version on the device itself, and that I should do another manual install to resolve it?

Ok I still have to find my way in this system and site…
When I tried to install TRB500_R_00.07.08.1 and that failed, and was directed to install it manually, I thought that the issue was then supposed to be solved. But apparently it was in 2 different versions.
Probably the next upgrade will go smoothly (and will be some time away in the future, everything appears to work OK now)
