first of all I apologize for any spelling mistakes, I use Google Translate,
I thank you in advance for any answers you can give me
so as written in the title, I would like to know if there is a new firmware from Quectel for the TRB500, if it is already available, where can I find it?
I have the same problems as this user User
except that the last answer on this topic said that the firmware was still under development, is this still the case?
Yes, the new modem firmware is released, and it can be uploaded onto the device using the instructions and download link found here: TRB500 modem update proceedure
Hope this helps!
unfortunately I have already installed this firmware but the problem still persists, after an hour I have my speed which is limited to 200mbits, I then have to restart the TRB500 so that it returns normally for an hour, I had read that it was a problem with Quectel.
I have already reset the device several times with the latest firmware but it doesn’t change anything, I also tested all the old firmware one by one but nothing either, it’s been happening since I installed it
1: The device is configured in NAT mode by default
2: It is connected to an 8 port ethernet switch via an RJ45 then from there all the wired devices are connected to this switch and two wifi routers are also connected to this switch
3: There are approximately 25 simultaneous connections at most, usually there are 18 connections
namely that this network configuration worked perfectly with our old consumer 5G router.
Could it be that your carrier uses QoS to limit the speed of mobile routers to avoid network congestion?
Of course, it would be hard to test this without having another router, as the carriers can quite easily determine whether the connected device is a mobile phone or a router, but you mentioned that
Could you check if you can get over 200Mbps with that device?
If yes, we might need to investigate the issue deeper, as it should have been fixed quite a while ago.
Yes indeed my operator uses QoS in particular cases the main one is when the radio antenna is very heavily saturated by users then the operator uses it from 6 p.m. therefore during peak hours,
except that my case does not correspond to this possibility since the radio antenna was installed recently, I am located in a rural area where almost no one uses this radio antenna and my operator does not directly offer a 4G/5G Box offer or unlimited plan for individuals, the only people who can obtain an unlimited 5G plan are professionals,
I also read the conditions of use of the mobile plan that I subscribed to, to find out if 4G/5G routers are authorized, the only thing that the operator reserves is to restrict the GB of the unlimited plan in the event of abusive use, here is the entire operator passage :
“in the case of subscribing to a mobile plan with unlimited data, in the event of continuous use that consumes a lot of bandwidth (such as Peer to peer or downloading for example) likely to saturate the network in a given area and may harm Users in this area, the Customer will be notified by email of their unreasonable use. In the absence of remediation, the Customer will be informed that the benefit of unlimited mobile data will be removed and internet access will be limited monthly to 50GB for a period of 3 months.”
I also tested the old consumer 5G router again and it presents no problem. The speed is constant even when a download is started. The maximum speed recorded is the same as the TRB500 when it is not restricted i.e. 980Mbps.
It is difficult to determine what the root cause of the issue could be without sharing additional sensitive information or organizing a remote session.
