How can I avoid this situation that the RUTX11 does not try to get an IP address or maybe it has an IP address but the WAN interface WIFI1 does not get it.
Maybe, it’s possible that the Marina Dalmacija hotspot’s 5 GHz access point is located at a distance from the RUTX11, which could result in an unstable signal to the router.
Could you clarify if I understood correctly that you prefer the RUTX11 not to obtain an IP on the WWAN (WiFi1) interface through the DHCP server? If so, you can configure this by setting the WiFi1 protocol to static and specifying your desired IP address.
Hello,
it is not the very best signal quality but most of the time the RUTX11 connects fine to the access point and gets an IP address. The WIFI interface has the highest priority in the failover list.
But once in a while the RUTX11 disconnects from the access point and when it reconnects to WIFI again, it does not get an IP address. The problem is, that in this situation the RUTX11 does not disconnect and reconnect in order to try to get an IP address. Maybe the DHCP client in the RUTX11 simply gives up to obtain an IP address. But this is only guessing.
Yes, I want to connect via DHCP and get an IP address from the access point. WIFI1 is the preferred access to the Internet.
If possible, try connecting to the Marina’s AP on the 2.4 GHz band to see if this improves connectivity. Additionally, adjust the 5 GHz radio channel to 36 (Network → Wireless → Radio) and ensure that all antennas are securely attached.
If these adjustments don’t resolve the issue, please replicate the scenario where the RUTX11 doesn’t receive an IP from the Marina AP. Then, navigate to System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot, click “Show” on the System Log, and copy the last few minutes of logs at the bottom of the list. You can paste them here, ensuring that any sensitive information is removed.
Hello,
I cannot use 2.4GHz because I have some wireless devices on a dedicated channel at 2.4GHz.
The 5Ghz radio is set to channel 36 but when it connects to the access point I assume it will change channels to be on the same channel as the access point and this access point is not under my control.
