Subject: VRRP Failback failure after latest firmware update on RUTX11
Hi everyone,
I’m currently running a VRRP cluster with a RUTX11 (Master, Priority 100) and a RUT240 (Standby, Priority 90). Both units rely exclusively on LTE for their WAN connectivity.
The Setup:
-
VRRP Interface Tracking is enabled.
-
WAN monitoring is configured to trigger priority changes based on LTE availability.
The Issue: Failover and failback have worked flawlessly in the past. However, I experienced a persistent failover issue this morning:
At 01:27 AM, the RUTX11 correctly relinquished its master status (likely due to an LTE connection drop). The RUT240 took over as expected. Even though the RUTX11’s LTE connection was restored later, the automatic failback did not occur.
I rebooted the RUTX11 at 08:00 AM, and it immediately reclaimed the master role upon boot.
Observations: This behavior started appearing only after installing the latest firmware update earlier this week. I have already secured the troubleshoot files from both devices.
RUTX11:
Firmware version RUTX_R_00.07.23.7
Firmware build date 2026-06-25
Kernel version 6.6.126
RUT240:
Firmware version RUT2_R_00.07.06.21
Firmware build date 2026-04-10 07:34:45
Internal modem firmware version SLM750-V_4.0.12_EQ101
Kernel version 5.4.291
Has anyone else noticed issues with VRRP failback behavior following the recent firmware release, or are there known changes in the tracking logic? I am happy to provide the logs via direct message if a staff member needs to inspect them.
Best regards,
Thorsten
