Using WIFI WAN in RUTX50 and RUTM50

Hi

Regarding WiFi WAN in both rutx50 and rutm50 router
, looking in diffrent guides, i see mention of the relayed package needed for the use of wifi wan. in other cases for updated Firmaware I see no mention at all. do I actually need it to establish a WIFI Wan connection between routers?

is there any difference between the RUTX50 and RUTM50 configurations/ability to use WiFi WAN?

Hello,

When it comes to just configuring WiFi WAN on your RUT routers, there’s no need to install and/or configure Relayd. Just make sure that the LAN subnet of the routers are different to avoid some IP issues. (LAN of RUTM50 will be the WAN of RUTX50).

Relayd is just used to bridge the WiFI WAN network to the LAN devices. (nodes connected to the LAN port of the Router WiFi client will have the IPs of the WiFi AP).
Unless this is your requirement, there’s no need to configure it.

Hope it helps

Hi

Thanks for the response!
I actually do need to bridge my LAN devices to the WiFi WAN network.
are both RUTX and RUTM support this the same way?

Thanks!

In that case, yes you will need to install the Relayd package when it is not installed yet, then configure it so LAN devices (with DHCP enabled) will have the IPs of the WAN network.

Just make sure that the DHCP is disabled on the actual router.

RUTX or RUTM supported this feature.

Edit: here’s a wiki article I found which can be helpful on your setup - https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Relayd_RutOS

Hello @anerc,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Could you please confirm if the issue has been resolved, or if you still require any assistance?

Best regards,
