Using SIM1 for data (failover) and SIM2 for SMS gateway

Before I used a RUT230 as a SMS gateway but we wanted an LTE failover also. So my thoughts were to combine these. However I cannot seem to configure SIM2 as non data/failover/loadbalancing.

How should I configure things to have SIM2 register but not be part of the WAN? I just want it to receive SMS/Calls and setup some rules for that. However SIM2 only registers if I set it to the default SIM or if I configure loadbalancing. But I don’t want it to use data.

I will only use SIM1 as a secondary (failover) data connection for the main network it is connected to.

I cannot find any similar setups or examples online.

Hello,

The instance you mentioned is called SIM switching, and in this case, it can be treated as SIM failover. I wanted to let you know that only one SIM can be active at a time. Therefore, it’s not possible for one SIM to provide data while another handles SMS gateway functionality simultaneously.

If I understood you correctly, this should address your concern. If not, please explain your end goal so I can assist you better.

Best regards,
