I’m using a RUTX10 (firmware: RUTX_R_00.07.16.1) with a USB flash drive (SanDisk 128GB and 256GB, tested with both exFAT and FAT32) that’s used for local file access.
After a reboot (e.g. after a power cut), the USB stick is not mounted, and /dev/sda1 is not available. Even ls /dev/sd* returns nothing.
However, as soon as I physically reinsert the USB stick, it gets detected immediately and mounts correctly. From that point on it works without issues — until the next reboot.
Tried:
Delaying mounting attempts up to 300 seconds
Manually triggering USB detection (rmmod usb_storage; modprobe usb_storage)
Using startup scripts with block mount, mount, or hotplug logic
Forcing unbind/bind via /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1.4/
mounting fails unless the USB stick is physically reinserted.
I confirmed the USB stick works fine in a PC and on this same router when manually replugged.
My question:
Is this a known issue on the RUTX10 - or other devices ?
And is there a recommended fix or workaround to ensure the USB stick mounts automatically after cold boot?
Thanks in advance!

a friend says it works fine on a RUTX10 with firmware RUTX_R_00.07.12.3
Could you please let me know if the same issue persists with the latest 7.16.3 firmware version? If you haven’t tested it yet, please do so — the firmware can be downloaded here: RUTX10 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki
If the issue still occurs, please let me know so I can contact you privately to request a troubleshoot file.
Additionally, for testing purposes, you can try downgrading to 7.12.3. Please note that all router configurations will be lost during the downgrade. Therefore, I highly recommend creating a backup file beforehand. You can find instructions here: RUTX10 Maintenance - Teltonika Networks Wiki
Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions.
Sorry for the late reply due some holidays.. I downloaded and installed version 7.16.3 two weeks ago, and initially noticed the same problems. So, no improvement.
I also downloaded the latest version 7.17 today and am experiencing the same problem. It works as soon as I insert the USB drive after rebooting. But after rebooting, the USB drive isn’t recognized.
No, sorry — I did not downgrade.
I am in a live (production) situation and do not have the time to lose all my configurations. –
Otherwise, we can postpone it for a few weeks, when I will have more time.
(If you think my situation is unique, and it should normally work with this firmware.)
