Under the Networks > LAN and under the LAN interface. I have accidentally deactivated the 1. Main preset LAN interface and activated the second pretest LAN interface which is in a different IP range. the result was i couldn’t log back in the WebUI. the Ethernet ports were still doing handshake with the laptop until i switch off the power of the RUT956.
Upon powering the RUT956 again, i can not get the Ethernet ports to work and this has been cross checked with multiple laptops. the 4G isn’t working anymore.
the soft reset didn’t work and Now i wanted to do the factory reset, the signal strength bar did not light up every 2 seconds as prompted nor any light lights up except the power light is on.
Since you have modified the LAN settings, the router’s LAN IP address may have changed during the process. If your PC is still using a static IP in a different network range, this can cause exactly the type of connection issue you’re experiencing.
Regarding the factory reset, you can restore default settings by pressing and holding the reset button for at least 12 seconds before releasing it. This will revert the device back to factory configuration.
More details can be found here:
If you need to completely reinstall the firmware, you can use the bootloader recovery procedure. This method wipes the current firmware and installs a clean version. You will need a firmware image, which you can download here:
A guide on how to perfom the bootloader recovery procedure can be found here:
I recommend using the latest stable firmware available.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or run into additional issues, feel free to reach out.
i have tried many times of the bootloader instruction,
“ Plug Ethernet cable from your computer to RUT956 Ethernet port, Press and hold the reset button, While holding the reset button, plug the power cable into the router. Continue holding the button for another 5 seconds, Release the reset button. The LEDs will begin to blink rapidly, indicating that the device has entered bootloader mode.”
There is no LED blinking whatsoever. i can’t possibly think changing the land options would result in this catastrophic unresponsiveness, not even one ethernet port work.
is there anything on the hardware level that can be tried?
Could you please confirm whether any other changes were made to the router besides the LAN configuration update?
To ensure the bootloader procedure is performed correctly, please follow these steps:
Connect the router to your PC via a LAN cable.
Set a static IP on your PC within the 192.168.1.0/24 range.
Ensure the router is powered off. Press and hold the reset button, then reconnect the power while continuing to hold the reset button for at least 5 more seconds.
The router’s LEDs should start blinking rapidly. You should then be able to access the bootloader interface by navigating to 192.168.1.1/index.html in your web browser.
If the router is still unable to enter bootloader mode, the issue may be hardware-related. In this case, please contact your reseller to verify the device warranty and initiate an RMA if necessary.
