Unable to get connection from EIOT sim on OTD500

Hi I’m trying to use an EIOT sim card with the OTD500, but it doesn’t seem to be getting service. The sim card is activated and connects when I insert it into my phone. I tried setting up the manual APN america.bics according to this setup guide (Comprehensive eSIM Activation Guide for Android, iPhone & GL-iNet Routers – Eiotclub), but not matter what I try the OTD500 doesn’t want to connect to it. It does register that the sim is inserted but status is:

Operator: N/A
Operator state: Searching
Network type: No service
Data connection state: Disconnected
