I have a new Teltonika RUT951 router on my boat & have tried 2 different wireless CCTV cameras with it but have not been able to connect either one.
It is worthy of note that both of these cameras will connect to a nearby WiFi service with no problems.
I really would like to get this sorted so that I can monitor my boat remotely.
Can we assume that you have an app on a smartphone that can connect to the CCTV cameras directly, allowing you to connect the cameras wirelessly to your RUT951 router?
Do you get an error when connecting the CCTV cameras to your routers WiFi? Does the setup process find your WiFi, and what happens when you enter the WiFi password?
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out!
To fully understand your issue, can you please let me know much more information?
- Is your device connected to the internet? Can you please go to the CLI and run this command: ping 8.8.8.8
- RUT951 has 2.4GHz WiFi capability. Is your cameras using that frequency for WiFi or 5Ghz?
- Is there any interface for your cameras to check available WiFi networks? If yes, can you please check whether you can see the RUT951’s SSID’s or not?
- Can you connect RUT951’s WiFi from your phone to check if it works properly and you have internet connection?
Please let me know about all these so I can help you further!
Regards,
Caner
My reply’s have been sent by email.
Yes you are correct that I have an App on my phone which can connect to the CCTV cameras directly (during setup).
Yes there is an error when trying to connect CCTV camera to my RUT951 router’s WiFi, the WiFi password I have is correct, so there should be no issue there.
The RUT951 is connected to the internet, I am using it with other devices.
Not quite sure how to “go to the CLI and run this command: ping 8.8.8.8” but will try next time I’m on the boat.
Yes the cameras specify they need 2.4GHz WiFi
The cameras work fine on other available WiFi networks on the boat (ie the Marina’s WiFi)
I can see the RUT951’s SSID from my phone
Phone connects to RUT951’s WiFi & works properly with internet connection (I can also connect & use my iPad & laptop).
I would like to get this solved, my last boat had the RUT950 & that worked with CCTV cameras fine.
What’s the CCTV cameras’ vendor? Name/Model?
Make sure that:
- Your RUT 951 is running on the latest firmware:
- Your 2.4 GHz Wifi’s security on your RUT951 is set to WPA2 only as most of all IoT devices have issues with WPA3
I have tried two cameras:
Tapo TC70
and
Septekon 764JBU
Neither will connect to router but both will connect to the Marina’s WiFi
I will check the firmware & security settings next time I’m at the boat
When trying to connect the cameras to the router, you say that you get an error message.
What does the error message say? Does it say that the password entered is incorrect or some other error message.
I have checked the Firmware & security settings, please see attached screenshot, the security is set to WPA2, it would appear that there is no update available to the firmware
