I was trying to set additional firewall rules, from the command line directly to the shell filesystem and I got kicked out of SSH access. At that point, SSH connections for root and admin users were returning time-outs.
Then I tried a first reboot but after that. I had an SSH connection back but still no wifi access and/or internet connection.
So I tried to restore the folder with the firewall’s older rules. The rsync command was completed successfully. Then I tried another reboot with the same results.
So I tried a factory reset. The lights blinked correctly but then, connecting to the default address started generating time-outs as the SSH connections were.
So I removed the sim, and all the cables except for the 12v power and I’ve tried a reboot to the bootloader menu.
Again, the lights blinked correctly confirming the access to the bootloader menu. But again, connected through ethernet I was not able to reach the default address from the browser, or through ssh (I’ve adjusted the computer ip and mask).
So I decided to try to contact the seller (I bought the router on 3/23/2023) but the company seems to have been shut down and I use the router for working purposes.
Does somebody have any clues on how to move it from here?
I recommend trying the Bootloader menu once again. Please carefully follow the step-by-step instructions provided here.
Key Steps:
Ensure the power supply is unplugged at the beginning. Only the Ethernet cable from your computer should be connected to the RUTX50 Ethernet port.
While pressing and holding the Reset button, plug the power cable into the router and continue holding the button for another 5 seconds.
If done correctly, all panel LEDs should light up, indicating the device is in the Bootloader menu state. If this doesn’t happen, please repeat the steps.
Additional Notes:
When the device is in Bootloader mode, you’ll need to set a static IP address on your PC within the 192.168.1.0/24 network (e.g., 192.168.1.2).
To access the bootloader menu by IP address, ensure you include index.html in the URL: 192.168.1.1/index.html.
Please let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance.
I tried everything as you suggested. LEDs blinked correctly but 192.168.1.1/index.html is still unreachable and the ping returned:
~ > ping 192.168.1.1
PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.702 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=94.507 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=78.807 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=64.798 ms
Below is how I changed the ip from my network settings:
IPv4 Configured: Manually IP address: 192.168.1.5 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.1.1 DNS Servers: DNS Servers (unchanged) Search Domains: Search Domains (unchanged)
Could you please specify if you cannot access both 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.1/index.html?
When you enter the IP address in the web browser, what do you see? Is it a blank page, is it still loading, or does it show a message that the site can’t be reached? Could you please provide a screenshot of what you see?
