Unable to Access Mesh Node as Admin After Configuration

Hello everyone,

I’ve set up a Mesh network with two devices following this video tutorial. However, instead of the devices used in the tutorial, I configured:

  • RUTX11 (192.168.9.2) as the Mesh Gateway
  • RUTX10 (192.168.9.3) as the Mesh Node

Everything seems to be working well, but after completing the configuration, I am unable to log in as an admin to the Mesh Node. Every time I try, I receive an error stating that the username or password is incorrect.

I’ve already tried:

  • Resetting my Mesh Node twice
  • Reconfiguring everything from scratch using the same tutorial

Yet, the issue persists. What could be causing this problem? Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please note that the mesh video tutorial you followed was specifically designed for older ~7.04.5 FW versions and is now quite outdated. I recommend referring to the latest Mesh configuration guide available here:

Additionally, setting up the mesh on a fresh, factory reset node would be a good starting point to ensure a clean configuration.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hello @Martynas,

Thank you very much. I hope the configuration was completed successfully. Could you confirm that, after configuration, the Mesh Node is unable to perform a speed test or check for and update its software?

Best regard,
@Malika

Hello @Malika.

Yes, that’s the intended behavior, as the mesh node does not have an active WAN source.

To enable internet access for the node or connected end devices, you need to create a static route on the node (Network → Routing → Static Routes) as shown in the screenshot below, routing traffic through the mesh gateway:

Additionally, for the node to perform a speed test or firmware update, you need to set the gateway as the DNS server in Network → DNS page:

With these configurations, the Mesh Node should have internet access and be able to resolve hostnames.

I hope this helps or let me know if you need any additional assistance.

Best regards,

After activating the Wi-Fi Mesh system, my network performance has deteriorated. Ping tests indicate packet loss, and live video streaming quality is poor despite having a DSL connection with 250 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload speeds.
