Trouble Connecting WiFi & Mobile Antennas on RUTC50

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the RUTC50 and so far, it’s been working great. However, I’ve encountered an issue with the antenna setup. I’m unable to connect Teltonika’s supplied mobile antennas alongside the extra SMA WiFi antennas I purchased. While the included WiFi antennas work fine since they are corded, I really preferred the setup I used with my previous RUT950, where I could connect all antennas without any physical interference.

Is there any specific reason for the design change that prevents this kind of setup? Or has anyone found a workaround for this?

Thanks in advance!

This is what happens when you align them

And here how it is done one RUT950

P.S. Maybe something like this (amazon link) could help to position the WiFi antenna a few centimeters back. Has anyone tried this, or would it affect signal quality?

P.S. This setup works but I lose 1 Wifi and 2 Mobile antennas

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out.

The design change for RUTC50 to use more and wider antennas is due to a 5G mobile connection. To achieve competitive speeds, we are required to use more and bigger antennas. Just for mobile connectivity RUTC50 uses 4 antennas whereas RUT950 uses only 2. Also, RUTC50 has Wi-fi 6 requiring 3 antennas whereas RUT950 has only Wi-fi 4 and uses 2 antennas.
It is recommended to use corded dual-band magnetic SMA Wi-fi antennas that were included with RUTC50, because the space on the side of the router is becoming scarce.

Removing antennas will significantly reduce the speeds that RUTC50 is capable to achieve.

However, if you insist on using swivel-type antennas, you can use extensions that you shared from Amazon, However, you might need more than one extension to keep antennas away from the router enough to be able to bend 90 degrees.

I hope I have answered your question.

Kind regards,
Arnoldas.
