As a step in testing the TRM500 I´m running it on Windows for speed tests.
I don´t manage to get expected results. Often between 5 and 20 Mbit/s when expected are at least 80 - 120 Mbits/s.
Suddenly this morning I got better than expected over 200 Mbits/s, I was happy and thinking that I’m could verify that th modem delivers as good speed as possible. But later the speed dropped to same low results as before, I have been fiddling alot with the settings and tried modem om different hosts. But I don´t know how to come back to some near expected results.
At the moment I only have 4G in my plan from ISP, but RSSI is good -59 and tests is made in the same location and position.
Of course load on the cell tower can differs during the day, but not to this point. This location has pretty stable speeds.
To troubleshoot the speed inconsistencies with your TRM500, I recommend the following steps:
Verify the APN Configuration:
Ensure the correct APN is selected in accordance with the instructions provided in the TRM500 Quick Start Guide (Add APN).
Check the Connected Band:
When the connection speed is at its peak, identify the band to which the modem is connected. You can do this by accessing the modem’s AT Command Line Interface (CLI) and executing the following command:
AT+QCAINFO
Manually Lock to a Specific Band:
If you observe a particular band delivers better speeds, you can manually lock the modem to that band using the following command:
AT+QNWPREFCFG="lte_band",1:2
Replace 1:2 with the specific bands you wish to lock, depending on your network configuration and available bands.
If you have additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
APN is assigned automatically and it is the same as the operator specifies.
I will continue with following up if it’s related to specific bands. I can see that it differs between band 5 and 7, but none of them seems to give med the peak. I come back with results after some more testing.
