I assume there is no way to update the first batch of the TRB501 in any way to activate eSIM functionality?
Greetings,
You are correct. There is no way to update the first batch of Teltonika TRB501 units to activate eSIM functionality, since this is due to a hardware limitation, not a software one.
Please note that the first TRB501 production batch does not include eSIM, while all subsequent batches will feature both eSIM and bootstrap connectivity pre-enabled. - you can find this statement in the EOL announcement for the TRB500

Yeah I noticed this on the EOL announcement for the TRB500 - which is sort of late for anyone who had already purchased the first batch of the TRB501.
It is beyond me why you released a half-finished product without announcing hardware changes are coming to batch 2, essentially leaving paying customers with an obsolete device which is barely a few months old.
Greetings,
The TRB501 was released as a fully functional product, meeting its original specifications, and the first production batch included all advertised features at the time of launch. The addition of eSIM support in later batches was the result of ongoing product development and market demand, rather than a planned or announced change at the time the first batch was released.
Best Regards,
Justinas
Obviously, and that leaves only a few conclusions: Either your product team is completely clueless and/or they withheld information as they launched the first batch, as chances are they were already working on sourcing, coding, and testing for the launch of the second batch weeks if not months ago. I don’t know what’s worse.
