TRB500 single device issue

Hi everyone! I have a TRB500 gateway connected to a single network device with a single ethernet patch, nothing else. At the first connection everything works correctly, the VPN is established correctly and everything works as I want, but if the device connected to the TRB500 reboots, the connection to the device is lost, basically I no longer have connectivity with the device. I tried with a crossover cable, but nothing. To solve the problem I have to interpose a simple unmanaged switch between the two devices and everything works. Question: is there a parametric solution to obtain connectivity without interposing a switch between the two devices? Thanks

Good afternoon,

Some insights on your query :

Make sure both devices use auto-negotiation for Ethernet speed and duplex settings, not fixed values.
Check if the TRB500 firmware is up to date, as updates improve link stability and handling.
Adjust settings on the TRB500 to refresh ARP (address resolution) entries more frequently or enable features like “Gratuitous ARP” so the gateway quickly learns the device’s MAC address after reboot.
If possible, configure the connected device to send a Gratuitous ARP on startup to announce itself to the TRB500.

Unmanaged switches act as “link keepers” and handle link state changes more gracefully, ensuring both devices re-establish connectivity after a reboot. The TRB500 by itself may not properly detect the link state change or re-negotiate the connection.
