Good Afternoon,
Using 5G GW TBR500 as IP Passthrough.
Modem work well since Firmware 07.03…upgrade today to 07.08 …IP Passthrough does not provided the public ip but local ones.
Rollabacked to 07.03…and back to work
Any idea or same issue on your side?
No, I have updated the newly bought TRB500 ans Passthrough mode works OK.
What I did notice was that I had to remove the static DHCP lease I had configured for the router before I enabled Passthrough mode. The DHCP server in the TRB500 would answer with the IP address in the static lease instead of the public IP address.
I have first deleted the static lease, set the DHCP pool to only 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.2 (the address I had in the static lease for the router), verified that the router got the same address, then enabled Passthrough mode and now the DHCP client gets the public IP.
I do not know if this behavior changed between 07.03 and 07.08 but at least with the above setup it works OK.
Thanks for the feedback.
So you have updated the firmware today to 07.08 and all work well on your side?
Also on my side when purchased and update all was perfect; the issue is born today with the new firmware release some hour ago…
Yes, I updated today to 07.08 and it works OK.
Before I updated to 07.07 I think, I only have the device since tuesday.
But then I was using NAT mode.
What is going wrong in your case? You get the wrong IP, or you get a correct IP but it does not work?
Ok, that is what I experienced at first too, and it was because I had a “static” lease configured for the router.
Once I removed that, it worked OK. Read my first reply.
Don’t know if that should be considered a bug or a feature.
First of all thanks for your support. I have perfectly red your workaround but i consider that a regression not reasonable. Backing to your solution i need to go to:
Network > Lan >Protocol and switch from static to none or what? Can u drive me?
I would recommend to, to cover all possible history and wrong configurations, reset the device to defaults and then only make the necessary configuration:
use the normal wizard to set the standard configuration with NAT
enter the SIM pincode if any (before reset check if you have it or read it in the existing config)
set the Passthrough mode under WAN, enter the MAC address of the router WAN port, and (on that screen) enter a short DHCP lease time, e.g. 5 minutes.
Then it should work. For me, it does. No other configuration required.
I have also added a static IP of 192.168.2.2 on my router to allow management of the TRB500 (alongside the DHCP client that obtains the global IP address).
