I am writing you because my TRB500 is behaving really weird for a few days.
I do live near two mobile antenna towers - therefore I’ve decided to go for a 5G/LTE internet option.
This device (TRB500) used to work normally and I’ve had the full download speed of 600 mbits.
Now I do have all original antennas connected and I am still facing connection timeouts.
Sometimes, the 5G band, and LTE B1, B3, … and B20 are connected. Sometimes only the LTE B3 band is visible and i do have a significant RSSI signal drop.
I was only able to perform a speedtest once - all my other attempts failed because I didn’t have an internet connection.
Regarding the firmware:
Those issues appeared with every firmware. The currently used firmware was very performing well in the past. The latest (stable) and the latest firmware didn’t make any difference.
Is there an indication of a hardware failure of my TRB500?
Is there an indication of a network failure from the mobile operator? I’ve reached out to them and they didn’t notice any abnormalities on their side.
I can send you the troubleshooting package if necessary.
there is no regular movement.
The device is located outside my home in a storage room. It is protected from influences like sun and rain and is operating in the design-range (temperature, humidity). I’ve mounted a 6mm² ground to the device. The device is mounted on wood and has a 1,5cm gap to ensure proper cooling.
I’ve tried both - original antennas and third party antennas (at a higher cost).
The error occurs with both original and third party antennas.
Right now I am using the original antennas to isolate the issue.
I assume that my antenna setup is correct - it worked well with the original antennas and the third party antennas in the past.
Use case:
The third party antennas are located outside the storage room to ensure that there is no object between the mobile towers and the antennas.
The TRB500 is connected to a wifi-bridge which is also connected to my RUTM10 in my home.
Band locking:
I’ve set up my default bandlocking which worked in the past.
I’ve also tried to set up LTE/B3 only and things didn’t improve.
Looking at the graphs, the jumps seem to be very sudden, then occasionally go back to normal, and then jump again. Just to check this off the list, could you please upgrade your firmware to 7.17.3 and see whether the issue still appears? Alternatively, you can head to System → Firmware → Update Firmware and select to update from server.
To determine if this specific SIM card is causing the constant reconnection issue, you can try switching to another SIM card for at least 1-2 hours or during the timeframe when disconnections occur, as it seems to be pretty consistent. This will help us understand which component is responsible: the router or the SIM card / provider.
