We are using a TRB500 in bridge mode to provide Internet connectivity to a Unifi gateway.
The concrete problem we are facing is that the Unifi gateway sometimes receives a local (192.168.2.x) IP address from the TRB500. This seems to happen when the LTE link has not yet come up, or is down for whatever reason.
The immediate question is: how do we stop this behavior, so the gateway can keep sending DHCP queries until the LTE link is up, and it can get a proper WAN IP? I found some earlier discussions on this topic in these forums, but no clear solution.
My more general question is: couldn’t we please get a real, transparent bridge mode on the TRB500, without this “man-in-the-middle DHCP masquerading” weirdness?
We’d be happy to use either a VLAN or static routing to access the TRB500 for configuration.

Bridge mode technically is impossible with modem, because mobile network operate only in L3. It does not have MAC addresses, ARP protocol and other necessary components to work in standard network. Even DHCP server is emulated in modem for host and is optional, some modems do not have it at all. So you will always face modem host which will handle these shortcomings in one way or another.
