TRB245 RS232 read problem

I’m trying to do a new deployment of a Victron MPPT 75|15 using a Teltonika 4G router with a serial port server to send the ve.direct data over IP. I succesfully attached the ve.direct serial port to the serial port input of the router. Then I created a port server in the router with the configuration provided by victron por the serial comms.

As the router has a CLI, I can see that the router is recieving the data over the rs232 port:

That doesn’t make sense, as if I read through a serial to USB adapter in windows I get the data it should appear:

What is going on? I double checked everything, I don’t what else to do…

Hi Avicente,

Welcome to Teltonika Networks Community!

Do you have an extra RS232 cable? When this type of characters are showing, there is a high chance that RS232 wiring is faulty.

Kindly cross check and let me know.

Hi Janmiguel,

I used the exact same cable in the 2 pictures above. For the TRB245 is a bare connector, only 3 wires are used (GND RX and TX). Those are connected directly to the TRB’s pin block. As for the RS232-USB I used in Windows is the same, they are attached directly to the GND/TX/RX pins in the board with the same cable (well they even have a little jumper cables/extension so it can connect to the male pins)

Hi,

Instead of accessing CLI via WebUI, can you try it via command prompt in your PC. Kindly refer to this link. Thank you.

Regards,

Yep, same thing…
