Hi,
I have connected my TRB142’s RS232 port to an RS232 converter which needs 5-12 VDC power. Can I use the TRB142 to power this converter or do I need to resort to an external power supply?
Best regards,
Olli

Hey Olli
That should not be a problem.
Just be sure not to brake isolation if your converter has this option and if not, check if it is ok if your device on the other end shares the same ground as the TRB.
Hey,
One more question. How can I get 5-12 VDC from my TRB142? I am a bit new to this.

Hi, it depends on what power source you are using.
If you are using the default 9V adapter that came with it, you could use Wago clams to splice into the wires or solder them on. Or just twist and tape if it is only for testing.
As long as the power consumption from the TRB + RS232 converter is lower than what the adapter can provide, you should be good.
