TRB142 - Serial Over IP

Hi,

I am newbie and I would like to use the TRB142 as a TCP gateway for device connected to serial interface. I have successfully confugured the Serial Utilities → Over IP section and it seems to work but only when the USB cable is connected. How to fix that and enable the functionality without need to have the USB cable connected to PC?

Thanks for comments.

Could you explain further? Typically to use serial over IP you need a serial cable between the router and the serial device. Why are you connecting the serial cable to the PC?

Surely, I would like to have connected serial cable to my device. But the functionality Serial Over IP works only when the USB cable is connected.

Not sure what might be different with the TRB142 but as comparison a RUT956 has standard RS232 port and USB port, no USB cable connection is required to run serial over IP out of the RS232 port but serial can also be output using USB/Serial adapter which must be plugged in to gain serial device to select over the physical RS232 port. Using USB/serial adapter then nothing is conencted to the physical port…

Something like a RUTX50 with no physical DB9 RS232 can still be configured with serial over IP via a USB/Serial (DB9) adapter which of course must be plugged in to gain access to the serial device.

I wil try to explain the issue in pictures. In the first picture there is possible to see the Teltonika WebUI with active serial Over IP service and 1 connected client (Hercules terminal) and 155B transfered ofer that. It works perfectly.

But just when I disconnect the USB cable, it is not possible to connect the TRB142 Over TCP.
