TRB140 upgrade from 02.03.xx to 07.11.2 made GUI corrupt

Today I upgraded my TRB140 from a rather old 02.03 version to the latest available 07.11.2.
The upgrade (from server) went through OK (without any noticeable warnings), but after login in again, the GUI is empty of any useful information. And I get a lot of notifications about not being able to change settings, and stuff like “overview takes unexpectedly long to load”.
The router seems to be doing it’s job though; I can access internet etc.
I have tried resetting to factory settings both through the GUI (with an error message as response) and via SMS command “restore”. No improvement.
Any suggestions as to what I can do next?

Hello,

Could you please share some screenshots of how the WebUI looks? It would be particularly helpful to see the Status → System page (with advanced mode enabled).
However, please ensure that you blur the device’s serial number and MAC address before sharing, as it can be unsafe to post such information on public forums.

Best regards,

This is the message I mentioned previously:

And this is what my System / Administration / General looks like. Notice that all five sections are expanded; there’s just no information at all in them… the same behaviour is seen throughout the GUI.

Hello,

Thank you for the information.

Could you please try resetting the device to factory defaults using the reset button? Instructions on how to perform this can be found here: Reset Button Instructions.

Please let me know how it goes.

  • If the device resets but you still experience the issue, please log in to the device via CLI, execute the command hexdump -C /dev/mtd1, and verify whether the output shows the correct device parameters (do not share this sensitive information here). If the parameters are missing or you see 0 instead, let me know.
  • If the reset is unsuccessful, please describe how the LEDs behaved during the reset process.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Best regards,

Reset button factory reset (>12s hold) did the trick.
Of course, now I have to set “everything” up again, but it was running a pretty default configuration anyway.

Hope this helps if anyone else find themselves in a similar situation. And thank you Marija for the quick response!

Hello,

I’m glad to hear the issue is now resolved!

It’s possible that when upgrading the device from Legacy OS to RutOS, you selected the “Keep settings” option during the update process. Since this is a significant upgrade with major UI and system changes, keeping settings might lead to issues like the one you experienced. For such major updates, it’s recommended not to select the “keep settings” option.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to let me know!

Best regards,
