TRB140 have 3 different update versions

Having 3 TRB140 each one updates to a different version:

TRB140 silver Hw 0007 batch 064 SN 6000421642 FW TRB1_R_00.07.17.1
TRB140 silver HW 0007 batch 038 SN 1113885103 FW TRB1_R_00.07.17.3
TRB140 black HW 0003 batch 087 SN 6005529879 FW TRB1_R_00.07.16.6

#3 is the youngest, so why doesn’t it accept 7.17.X ?

What if i update forcefully to 17.1 via file update the third one (it shows different behavior, aka bug)

Will it be permanently broken?

Will a downgrade be possible if anything goes wrong?

Greetings,

When you say “doesn’t accept” - do you mean that you’ve already tried upgrading and failed? If not, you should be fine proceeding with the upgrade.

Some of the firmware upgrades can take time to appear in the WebUI due to not being uploaded to the FOTA (Firmware over the air) server yet, if you wish to upgrade as soon as possible, you may download the files manually from here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/TRB140_Firmware_Downloads

And simply choose Upgrade from: File under System → Firmware → Upgrade firmware.

M.

Forgot to answer these questions as well - your device will not break if you perform a firmware upgrade, if it’s not supported by the device, it will simply not allow you to upgrade, worst case scenario, you can opt for a bootloader reset: Bootloader menu - Teltonika Networks Wiki to restore your device.

A downgrade is always possible, but do note that your configurations will be lost in the process (passwords, configurations, etc.).

M.

Thanks.

What i needed to hear was ‘will not break’

As the device is already installed on customers site, i was reluctant to do it via file transfer

The term “don’t accept” was misleading. The device simply stated: Newest version installed on the device

Ah, then the FOTA thing I’ve mentioned previously applies to your situation - it should even out on all of your devices eventually, worst case - opt for manual updates and you’re good to go.

So i updated them all to 7.17.5 and they worked as before.

Sadly, also the “different behavior” aka bug in #3 is as before.

But i will begin a new thread for this
