Understand the RUTX50 is primarily an LTE based router, could you use one in the home with VDSL/fibre modem connected on WAN as primary internet source, with 4G sim card as failover. If so, will the Teltonika switch back to WAN as and when it becomes available again after a drop in connection. End goal is to have a stable router with equally stable and strong 4G signal, maybe even with a view to using 4G/5G only going forward.

Yes, this can be done using the RUTX50’s Failover functionality, which can be configured in Network → Failover. To set it up, assign the WAN (wired connection) as the primary interface and the 4G SIM (mob1s1a1) as the secondary. Ensure the WAN interface has a higher priority (metric 1) while the mobile interface is set with a lower priority. Once configured, the router will automatically switch to the mobile connection if the WAN goes down, and it will switch back to the primary WAN when it becomes available again…
