Teltonika RUTM51 5G slow speed

I have a RUTM51 5G router but I can’t get it to run at a good speed. The max I managed to get was DL ~130 and UL ~40
A ZTE router is connected to the side and its measured speed is DL 230-265 and UL ~40. What could be the problem?

Hello,

Could you please tell us which country the device is operating in and which mobile operator is being used?

Thank you,
M.

Country Lithuania, mobile operator Bitė.

Hello, Arūnas,

Thanks for the response. I’d like to confirm the options you’ve tried already to improve the speeds. My suggestion would be to try out Mobile Band Lock, which looks to help out a lot of users in such cases where speeds aren’t up to par: Band Lock - Teltonika Networks Wiki

The basic logic behind this is that you lock onto a specific mobile frequency band, which might end up being less occupied and, as a result, will provide both better speeds & slightly better signal strengths.

Additionally, although unlikely, it is worth noting that sometimes firmware upgrades could help out even by a tiny bit, so if you aren’t running the latest mass production firmware or just the latest firmware in general, I do like to suggest to upgrade it.

Other factors are generally speaking physical-related, such as location, antennas, etc. Could you confirm the environment that the device is running in? What antennas are you using? Are they the default ones?

Let me know if this helps out,
M.

Hello,

Everything has been tested. The frequency was set manually, based on what frequencies are used in another router with normal speed. This gave some benefit, the download speed increased from 50 to 100-130. The firmware was updated to the latest version. We use standard antennas that come with the router. Maybe there are some clever settings or some nuances for the slow speed?

RUTM51 CAT12 module vs ZTE CAT?

Hello,

I’ve sent you a form to fill out so we can continue our conversation in private, to avoid accidentally leaking any sensitive information. In the Ticket ID field, simply enter the thread’s number, which is 14050.

Thank you,
M.

Router ZTE MC888

RUTX51 = Cat 12
ZTE MC888 = Cat 20

The ZTE will be able to apply much more carrier aggregation, the speed difference seems to be by design.
