Teltonika RUT950- slow speed when in WAN mode

Hello,

I am trying to use the RUT950 to provide me backup using 4G, when the primary fiber internet connection to my house is down(which happens frequently). I have a fiber optic router from where I have a LAN cable connect to the WAN port of RUT950. The SIM cards are in place in RUT950.

The problem I am facing is with the speed of internet I receive from RUT950 when it is in the WAN mode(internet from fiber optic). It seems to slow down the speed when it is in this mode. While I can easily access 70 mbps from the wifi network and as well as from the LAN ports of the fiber optic router, when I try to use the wifi from RUT950 or even the LAN port from the RUT950, the speeds are lower than 20mbps. I have tried to change the wireless settings(mode, channel, etc), but nothing has helped so far. While the speeds from the 4G network is fair, it does seem that something is preventing RUT950 from delivering the best speeds possible. I am on firmware RUT9_R_00.07.06.16 if that helps. I have already looked for solutions here on this forum but I haven’t seen anything that may help.

Thanks and hoping for a solution here.

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

  1. Could you please specify which fiber router you are using to provide internet to the RUT950?

  2. Does the connection issue persist both when connecting via LAN cable and via WiFi?

  3. Have you tried connecting a different device to your fiber router? If so, does the issue still occur?

Best regards,

Hello,

  1. This is the router: https://www.syrotech.com/product-page/sy-gpon-2010-wadont-pro

  2. Yes-it happens both when I connect to RUT950 wifi, or the LAN port. I have also tested this on 2 different laptops(1 x macbook, 1 x windows)

  3. Yes I have tried this. I have connected both my laptops to the above mentioned router using the LAN cable. The issue does not occur in this case. The internet speeds are predictable and normal.

Hi…

Did you try to disable at RUT950, things that you don’t need at it?
Sample… IPv6, VoLTE, SMS commands utilities, WiFi auto 20/40MHz and force 40MHz, etc… Are you using it as router, so you need it as router or you use it as a bridge AP and all ethernet as LAN?
