Try reflashing your device with latest firmware but from bootloader mode.

what would have caused this? and is it best to flash the latest firmware this way everytime ?
There is no official data why it happens. I assume it happens when you upgrade from very old firmware to latest version and you keep your settings. When i bought my unit, it had very old firmware. So i updated to the latest version and device literally became unusable. Web ui was unreachable, internal modem was unreachable, it constantly connected and disconnected from the network or entire device just freezes and i had to power cycle it. I flashed latest firmware via boot loader mode and device is rock solid since then. Also, check other threads. People have been able to resolve issues with other devices by using this method.
No. There is no need to flash from boot loader mode every time. If you just keep updating regularly with stable firmware you are not going to have issues. I upgraded several times so far and its all good. However, if you for some reason have issues after upgrade, then its good to try and reflash from boot loader mode.
