Tailscale uses all of the RAM

Hello,

For several months now, I’ve noticed a substantial increase in RAM usage on my RUTX11 router, to the point that there are times when the device freezes and becomes unresponsive. I have hardly any services running; it’s all due to the Tailscale service.

According to the router’s web interface monitor, its RAM usage is already around 80-85% after startup, and this gradually increases over time, approaching 100%. The resource monitor shows that Tailscale is consuming almost all of the virtual memory. If I disable it, the router works correctly again.

Today I tried to update from the stable version (.18.3) to the latest (.19.2), but the interface prevented me from doing so; there’s no RAM available. I had to temporarily disable the Tailscale service to be able to update and use the device stably.

I saw that a thread was recently opened discussing this problem, but it was closed recently. I don’t know if a solution or workaround was found.

Hi there,

We’ve actually had a similar thread to yours already created recently. We were unable to reproduce the issue so I went ahead and contacted the R&D. Since there are cases with higher priority, they’re taking a bit to respond. However, when I have any news regarding this, or if I may need further details (such as logs, config files, etc) I’ll reach out to you through here.

Regards,
M.
