Switch performance problems on RUTX09

I’ve noticed some performance problems on the build in switch on the router. I have an instalation of 48 5Mpx IP cameras and a average total bandwidth from all of the cameras is about 250 Mb/s. I have 2 NVR’s connected directly to the router and the other 2 ports (the WAN is set to be LAN port) are used for PoE switches for the cameras. All of the router ports are in Gb full-duplex mode. After a few weeks of normal work some problems with connecting to one of the NVR’s occured. I’ve updated the firmware of the router to the latest one (7.12) and the problem still occures. After some test I noticed that the problem is with LAN1 port on the router. When I added a separate gigabit switch to connect the NVR’s and the cameras the problem dissappeared. Is it possible that there is a phisical problem with LAN1 port despite it indicates a gigabit connection ?? or maybe the build in switch performance is to low? This is a simple config without any QoS or VLANs. The cameras are connected remotely to an operator but in low profile mode so that the mobile connection traffic is mostly less than 30Mb/s.

Good afternoon,

From your explanation, it does seem like either you have gone over the PoE budget for the switch, or there is a physical fault with the device.

A way to test it would be putting another switch in this ones place, with the same configuration. I assume the device has stopped working at random, not after a configuration change?

Hi
There are no PoE devices connected to the router. No config changes had been made before the problem occured. Now everything is working fine but I had to move to a separate gigabit switch. I thinh You misunderstood the problem. There are 4 gigabit ports in the router. Two of them are uplinks to PoE switches and two are directly connected to NVRs. When the problem occured I had to disconnect one of the NVRs from LAN1 port and add an additional switch (connented to LAN2 port). Now both of the NVRs are connected to the router throug a separate gigabit switch using LAN2 uplink.
