SparkPlugB on RUTX devices

Hi I’m following up on a post made by @Theodorska

We too are in need of SparkplugB, more and more. Although I realise it can be done in Python, I was wondering if there were any Teltonika interest regarding this IoT protocol for the future.

I guess with quite some efforts, one could create the Protobuf definition files and implement some code to build it up and report by exception. Something to ponder, not sure I’m ready to spend many hours in doing it myself. I guess it could be a case of participating in an open source project effort if more people are interested and capable of supplying some resource.

For now I’ll continue to use an external tool, Ignition or Nodered, it would have been great to have Nodered on the RUTX50 but that’s for an other day, I haven’t researched that much for now and don’t know if it’s possible, but would be cool.
I also use a Victron Energy Cerbo GX, which can run local Nodered. Along with the provided extensions one can make a SparkplugB connector onboard with much less efforts.

Moral of my rant, is that we have to use external tools for now, looking forward to read more the future development in the IoT world and possibilities to have Nodered on a device such as the RUTX50 if the CPU/RAM is sufficient.

Cheers.

Hello,

I have reached out to our RnD team to inquire about any plans to implement SparkPlugB in our devices. Once I receive feedback from them, I will update you.

Best regards,

Hello,

I received feedback from our development team regarding the SparkPlugB functionality. Unfortunately, it is not currently planned for implementation on our devices. However, they will analyze the request and consider this feature for future updates. At this time, I cannot provide a timeline for when it might be available.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
