maintain to my UK based eyes would make more sense (contain being to “encapsulate” rather than “persist” the connection)

Yes, The option “Don’t Contain Connection” is not standard English and could be confusing. A more appropriate and clear option would be “Don’t Maintain Connection”. I will relay this to our R&D department. Thank you for your insight!
