Sim tray fell inside RutX11 - can I open?

Hi

Trying to open the right-side sim tray for the first time,
pushing the Sim Holder Button did not release the sim tray.
(it worked ok on the left sim tray).

So I pushed slightly the right sim tray to try to release the
Sim Holder Button mechanism,
but the sim tray then fell inside. Very disappointing.
So I took it out of service and replaced it with a standy RutX10.

Question:
Can I open the panel to retrieve the sim tray?
If so, should I open the front panel (location of the sim tray)
or back panel (location of the antennas) panel?
I have the necessary tool to open the panel.

I could just raise an RMS with the supplier,
but this will involve a lot of time and inconvenience.

What is your suggestion?

Hello,

Yes, you can open the front panel to retrieve the SIM tray. To do this, just unscrew the four hexagon socket screws located on the front panel. Once the panel is removed, you can access the SIM 2 card slot.

It’s advisable to inspect and gently press the SIM Holder Button to check if it’s stuck or if there’s an issue with the spring mechanism.

Feel free to reach out if you need additional assistance or have questions.

Kind regards,

Thanks very much. In fact it was easy:
just the cover came off and the ports and trays just stayed in there.
I retrieved sim tray 2, reinserted it, and now the button works fine.

However now the button on sim tray 1 does not work correctly:
it seems to ‘release’ the tray but not push it out.
Looking at the spring it seems ok, but I cannot be sure of the mechanism.

Anyway it is not a problem - I rarely change the sim card
and if I need to I can easily remove the cover
press the button to release it, then with my fat fingers remove the sim tray.

fwiw I can mention that I also have a TCR100
and the sim tray mechanism on that seems very reliable.

I’m glad to hear that the stuck SIM 2 tray is now working as expected. One thing to note: when reattaching the front panel, ensure it fits perfectly – corner to corner, edge to edge – as an uneven installation can affect the SIM tray’s mechanism.

If you need further assistance or have additional questions, feel free to reach out.

Kind regards,

Thanks Martynas

Yes, I did check that -
in fact the easiest way is to check that the screw holes
were in the center of the panel holes
and that the screws went in without force.

But I note that the above problem with sim tray 1
happens even with the cover off,
so the problem is not that the cover is not on correctly.
It seems to be a problem with the mechanism.
