Setting up a RUT951 in Bridge mode

Dear all,
I have no experience with this kind of group communication. I’ve looked for information on the issue I’m dealing with, but found not much, surely my fault as I expect it’s nothing special. Anyway, here’s my question.

I try to hook up a RUT951 as a client to a Wifi network. Next I want to connect devices to the RUT951 via UTP. I’ve made this kind of bridge set-up with other routers in the past, but this time I get stuk. What I did first is connect the RUT to a laptop, logged in at 192.168.1.1 changed password. Next I set the IP to 192.168.2.1 following a suggestion form the community to a similar issue some raised in the past. Next I tried to set de RUT in client mode (under Network/Wireless/SSIDs). So far so good, but when I try to connect to my Wifi network I get this error message: ‘2.4Ghz radio(s) already have one client or Multi AP. To specify few possible APs for client use single Multi Ap.’ Everything I tried next failed.

Thanks for your help,

Bas

Hello Bas,

Thank you for reaching out.

The solution for your described scenario would be to use a Relayd mode, which bridges the WAN and LAN interfaces while using the RUT951 as a client to the WiFi network. Please follow the steps from the configuration example provided on this wiki page: RUTOS relay / Wi-Fi extender / repeater / bridge configuration.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Best regards,
