Set-up RUT 951 for 4G network

Dear all,

I must be overlooking something … Teltonika offers many fine Configuration Examples for their product. Somehow I’m fail to find an example on how to set-up a RUT951 with a 4G or 5G sim, hook-up some machinery to the RUT and management of the system through RMS.

Hello,

To set up the mobile connection, please attach the mobile antennas to the router at a 90-degree angle. Insert a SIM card into either SIM slot 1 or slot 2 (the default is slot 1). If you wish to use slot 2, you will need to set it as the default SIM in the WebUI under Network → Mobile → General → SIM2. More information can be found here: SIM card settings.

To configure the mobile WAN, navigate to Network → WAN, and click “Edit” next to mobile interface. For more details, refer to: Mobile WAN Configuration.

You can check the mobile connection status under Status → Network → Mobile in the WebUI.

Dear Marija, I wonder how to proceed and what would work for you. I get stuck already at the basic level and you might need to guide me through some small steps.

I gave the 951 a factory reset, I put in a sim, and the attenna. Hooking up the 951 to my router I see it appears at 192.168.1.186. The led is blinking red-green. I guess because the sim is not set-up. Nevertheless, I cannot reach the 951 at 192.168.1.186, my browsers gives a time-out.

For mobile connectivity and better signal, make sure to attach both mobile antennas

at a 90-degree angle, as shown in the YouTube video.

If your LED is blinking red and green, and you’re referring to the signal LED, this indicates no SIM detected. More details on LED behavior are available here: RUT951 LEDs

After performing a factory reset (reset steps here), the router default slot ia SIM1 slot. So, insert your SIM into slot 1. Also, the router’s default IP address will be 192.168.1.1. If you’re seeing 192.168.1.186, that’s likely the IP your PC received from the router’s DHCP. Try manually entering 192.168.1.1 into your browser to access the WebUI.

Thanks. That worked. I connected the 951 to an offline laptop. Now the 951 appeared at 192.168.1.1 and I was able to enter pin for the sim and set-up a WAN connection. I can access websites for instance. I made a login in RMS, added the divice. But I have no connection form there as yet. Now we get to what I really want to achieve. I want to connect a security camera to the 951. This camera will be used to observe the behaviour of flying bats in a medieval church Please advice.
